Meet Evie Rees: RedGIFs’ First Brand Ambassador

We’re incredibly excited to introduce Evie Rees as the first-ever RedGIFs Brand Ambassador!

Evie has been part of the adult industry for more than a decade, building a career around colorful, nerdy content. She’s also been a creator and supporter of RedGIFs long before taking on this new role, which made her a natural fit to represent us within the creator community.

As our Brand Ambassador, Evie will help us connect with more creators, represent RedGIFs at industry events, share her own experience using the platform, and help creators get more out of RedGIFs.

To celebrate the announcement, we sat down with Evie to talk about her career, what she’s learned along the way, why she wanted to become our first Brand Ambassador, and what she hopes to accomplish in the role.

MEET EVIE

RG: For readers who may be discovering you for the first time, how would you introduce yourself?

ER: Hey! I’m Evie Rees!

A strange pink specimen from the UK, I’m like if a jester was also a sex worker. I create all kinds of colourful and nerdy adult content for my own pages, as well as shooting for bigger companies too! I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years now and plan to be in it for the long run!

RG: How did you first get started creating content?

ER: I first started 12 years ago webcamming, and just filming whatever clips I fancied making either side of the streams. At the time I didn’t even have an Instagram, hadn’t heard of OnlyFans, and didn’t make a single bit of social media content, oh how times have changed!

RG: If someone has never seen your content before, how would you describe your style?

ER: Very heavily roleplay based for the majority of content I make myself, as I really enjoy playing a character or acting out a story between the explicit fun! I do a lot of cosplay, and other nerdy concepts that tend to be a pain in the ass to edit. I also work with a lot of creators who are also queer/LGBTQ+ (like me!) so showing the beautiful rainbow of industry cuties is a big part of my content too.

EVIE'S CREATOR JOURNEY

With more than a decade in the industry, Evie has watched the creator landscape evolve around her.

RG: What’s something you’ve learned over the years that you wish you knew when you first started?

ER: Being more authentic to my own likes and passions outweighs trying to appeal to a mainstream audience by a MILE. For a few years when I first started I was blonde (I know right, how unnatural for me!) because I thought I would be booked more and sell more content being more digestible to a larger audience. As soon as I leant into my true nerdy interests and the aesthetic I adore (which if wasn’t obvious, includes being VERY pink) that’s when I really saw my brand and fan base start to form.

RG: What’s been one of your proudest moments as a creator?

ER: Oooh I have to do a top two!

Winning my first XBIZ award in Miami for Female Content Creator of the Year; being seen by a platform that I admired so much and being supported/cheered on by a whole room of industry icons is not something I’ll ever forget. Even just getting to present awards in years since leaves me with a huge grin on my face for days after!

Becoming a brand ambassador for RedGIFs! Over the 12 years I’ve been in the industry I’d had a handful of brand ambassador offers from companies that I never felt fully aligned with me as a person or my ethics. Each time I turned one down I’d have the dread of ‘what if that’s the last offer I ever get’ while feeling like I have it in me to really do the job justice and have fun with it with the right company. Then one day as I’m just about to travel home from Berlin I get asked if I could have a quick coffee with the CEO of RedGIFs, and honestly the flight home was just me tearing up through sheer joy and excitement! Finally a brand and website that I ALREADY LOVED and used, and getting to hear the company ethos align with everything I believe the industry needs was just the cherry on top!

RG: What keeps you motivated after all this time?

ER: Sheer audacity. I want to do this for the rest of my life in some form, so I’m GOING TO no matter how difficult things are! It’s hard sometimes in the age of social media to not constantly compare to other people in the industry who are doing better, so using them as motivation instead really helps! I love watching reels of my friends and if a thought creeps in of ‘ugh they are doing so well, I should be doing that kind of thing, they are so much better than me’ I twist it to think ‘what an honour that I have such creative friends who will share their ideas and I can message to ask how best to film certain things to do a version of that myself!’

Having a support group within the industry makes staying motivated, and even just having a shoulder to lean on and vent to when you don’t feel motivated at all, is endlessly valuable.

RG: What does success look like to you today compared to when you first started?

ER: It always fills me with such gratitude to step back and realise that my view of success when I first started is something I have very much achieved over the past decade. Now my idea of success is quite different; and is more in line with how much I feel I can impact people and the industry itself in a positive way. Something that really makes me feel successful is the ability to give people advice who need it; being seen as someone they are striving to be like while also being able to help them get there.

BECOMING REDGIFS' FIRST BRAND AMBASSADOR

Evie was already using and recommending RedGIFs before becoming our Brand Ambassador. Now, she’ll be bringing that enthusiasm into an official role and helping us build even stronger connections with creators across the industry.

RG: How has RedGIFs been part of your creator journey?

ER: RedGIFs has been an invaluable part of my creator journey so far, long before becoming a brand ambassador. Having a platform with a social media feel but without Meta rules is an amazing tool for sharing my work that I can’t post most places! Not only that but having the ability to link out to my other pages means it works in tangent with everything else I’m doing too.

RG: What made you want to become RedGIFs’ first Brand Ambassador?

ER: I had ALWAYS loved the brand, and was always surprised not many of my industry friends had heard of it or used it. So now actually getting an official job title for all the ‘Oh my gosh you need to try this’ conversations I’m having was just perfect! As I mentioned before I had always felt like how confident and chatty I am at events and the networking I’ve done over the years would be valuable to a brand, I just wanted to make sure it was a brand I wanted to get behind, which RedGIFs definitely is!

RG: What does being the RedGIFs Brand Ambassador mean to you?

ER: I think with it being one of my two answers for ‘what has been your proudest moment as a creator’ that answers itself!

RG: What do you think makes RedGIFs different from other platforms?

ER: Their ethos behind everything they do is being so creator forward. They WANT us to get views on our posts that lead people away from the site to our own paid pages. The amount of companies who claim wanting creators to succeed but only within the confines of them taking a % of that success has unfortunately made that the norm. RedGIFs has a refreshing perspective of it does what it says on the tin, and knows creators will inevitably use a platform more if it is actually proven to benefit them.

RG: What are you hoping to accomplish as the RedGIFs Brand Ambassador?

ER: As a start I’m hoping to get more people on board, and with the launch of Spotlight really give people an insight into how that works with my own accounts too. The proof is in the pudding and I think RedGIFs has some damn good pudding that a lot of people would like to try!

ADVICE, PLANS & MORE

RG: What advice would you give creators who are just getting started?

ER: Find your community! Whether you just have a handful of social media mutuals who make similar content to you, or you attend an event in person to meet a whole bunch of creators, find your people! Not only is it important to have a support system and people to talk to about the difficulties we can face in the work we do, but also for inspiration and collaboration!

Also put your eggs in as many baskets as possible while figuring out what works for you, if you only set up clip sites you might never know that subscription sites work better for your fan base, it’s all trial and error! Seeking out advice is always good, but remember what works for someone else might not work the same for you!

RG: What’s next for you? Anything you’re excited to work on this year?

ER: I’ll actually be making another playable porn video game!! The first I made was a home-filmed and put together with a pretty janky programme; but still something people loved. So I’m getting together a whole group of industry hotties for another, far more professionally made game! Keep an eye out!

I’m also very excited to attend more events in the coming year as a brand ambassador!

RG: What’s one hobby or interest you don’t get to talk about often?

ER: Probably baking! My most viral post on Reddit amongst all my super explicit nudes is actually a cake I made a few years ago; but aside from that my creative baking doesn’t get seen too much! I’d say I do it equally as often as gaming but as it’s a lot easier to stream gaming that’s the hobby that my fans end up seeing me do the most!

RG: Is there anything you’d like to say to the RedGIFs community as you begin this new chapter as our Brand Ambassador?

ER: Mostly just: HEY! I’M SO EXCITED TO BE YOUR FIRST BRAND AMBASSADOR!! Please do come chat to me if you see me at an event, that’s what I’m there for! I love giving advice whether it’s RedGIFs specific or about content creation as a whole, and I can’t wait to connect with more of you at XBIZ and other events going forward! Here’s to us all being in increasingly successful!
