06 Oct Planning for Themed Holiday Content
Spooky season is finally upon us, and after that, we’ll have a long season of holidays and festivities to celebrate. It’s everyone’s favorite time to get together with friends and family to share fun and traditions, break bread, and over-indulge on treats. But we all know what the best part of all is, creating holiday-themed smut! If you want to make the most of it, you’ll want to do a little planning before you throw on your Krampus costume and start recording.
The first step to a successful holiday content run is to get a head start on it. Two or three weeks might seem like a reasonable amount of time to get some photos and videos done, and that’s probably true if you were just shooting your work and moving on. But the time crunch gets real when you have to pump out previews, advertise everything you’ve got going on, upload it to however many platforms you have a presence on, and make plenty of social media posts in whatever you’re wearing for your theme. You could drop the hottest video of your career, but people won’t get a chance to appreciate it if you launch it a week before the big day and forget to market it.
Since you’ve definitely given yourself plenty of extra time to get your content in front of as many eyes as possible, your next move is to do some research. Check out what your favorite creators are up to, see which costumes are the hottest for this Halloween, and keep up with what’s trending on social media. Pull together an idea of what you want to do and decide how you’re going to pour your talent and creativity into it to make it your own.
When it’s go time for creating your soon-to-be best seller, make a plan for how you want to shoot everything. It’s easy to get frustrated and wind up behind schedule when you’ve got one big to-do pile, so organize your days. Taking a little extra time to create a checklist, calendar, or whatever other visual tools you prefer will ease a lot of stress. How many reels and photos do you want to get done on whichever day? How many videos do you want to shoot? How long do you want to spend editing and making previews? You’ll be much more effective with a game plan suited to your individual needs!
Do whatever you can to make your content fun and unique. There will be tons of other creators with the same goals as you. Decorate your setting, keep your outfits and dialog fresh with your own personal touch, whatever you can think of that will set your content apart from the mountain of other videos available will help you out. You can have top-notch production value, but if your creation is too similar to everyone else’s, it might fall through the cracks. It’s also important to keep the context of your videos in mind if the holiday you’re theming is cultural or religious. You want to make sexy content, but you don’t want to offend everyone at the same time!
Now your content is all wrapped up, and you’ve got plenty of time to get the word out. Start promoting everything the same way you usually would across your socials, DMs, and any of your other go-to methods. Consider having a sale or contest, hype it up like it’s a limited release to get your fans motivated to jump on it. Make sure you’re hitting all of the trending and holiday hashtags and keywords so you and your work are at the top of everyone’s feed. As long as you’re doing everything you can to keep yourself at the front of everyone’s horny little brains, you’ll have a successful and prosperous season!
